Safe Space

The hurt of losing a loved one, the stressful impact from natural disasters, and the ongoing social complexities of one’s daily life. These were the issues of the community so we needed a space for youths to feel comfortable to express their feelings and find emotional support from peers. Therefore, Huong Nguyen and John Nguyen created SafeSpace – a nurturing and supportive settings for one another to share with each other. The program focuses on youths coming together and exploring everyday issues like friendships, relationships, social problems, and privacy issues within each other’s lives. The space is open to youths from different ages and different walks of life. Currently, Sean Nguyen facilitates SafeSpace at the VAYLA Center every Tuesday at 5:30 pm.
